Choose the Right Way - Drum Pattern

For this activity, I pass out hymn books to all the children to place on their lap and use as a drum.

I start out teaching an easy drum pattern to perform while singing the song. Each time we repeat the song, I like to make the pattern a bit more complicated. This song as a 3-beat pattern.

For the first sing through, tap 3 times with the right hand, then 3 taps with the left hand.

For the second sing through, tap 3 times with the right hand, 3 taps on the left hand, 3 taps with both hands, then clap 3 times.

For the third sing through, tap 2 times with the right hand, 1 clap, 2 taps on the left hand, 1 clap, 2 taps with both hands, 2 claps, and 2 snaps.
