Books in the Book of Mormon - Clap and Rest 

This activity can be done using either Hand Clapping or Finger Castanets.

This song can be treated as a 4-beat pattern. Each row in the chart is used for 2 measures in the song.

For each X, clap your hands. For each O, rest your hands by spreading them apart. Ask the children to follow you in the clapping pattern. Sing the song while performing the clap and rest pattern.

Next, pass out a castanet to each child and repeat the song, but instead of clapping, use a finger castanet. 

Click at each X, and rest at each O.

Repeat again with the castanet in the opposite hand.
